Why did Jesus say... YE ARE GODS ?
In one instance, they were ready to stone Christ, and the accusation was that Jesus had claimed to be the Son of God. In His own defense, He said, "Is it not written in your law "I said, ye are Gods?" Are we not called the sons of God already time after time in the Bible? Are we not made in the very image of God? Just as any son is made in the image of his dad? Revelation 21:7 says, "He who overcomes will inherit these things, and I will be his God and he will be My son."
ELOHIM (God) is a plural word! THE GOD FAMILY
The word God in the Bible where it says we are made in the image of God is the Hebrew Elohim, which is plural, meaning more than one God, the translators didn't understand that God is a family name, just like our last name, so they incorrectly changed the translation to the singular word God over 2000 times!
There are 2 members right now, the Father and Jesus Christ, but they are in the process of adding more members to the family. We hear so many religious phrases, that we fail to see what is in front of our face. Listen carefully to this...If God made men in His image, aren't children made in the image of their father? Dogs have puppies, not guppies. So, in light of that, we are the children of God. We are begotten of God, which simply means conceived, not born yet. Those that have God's Spirit and are converted, that have the New Covenant, and God's law is written in their hearts. They will be made into spirit beings at the return of Christ and will rule the physical earth with Christ for a 1000 years. They are the first to be born into the God family....they are the First Born! Jesus Christ is the first of the First Born, at His death, He qualified to be the first of the First Born.
FIRST BORN OF MANY BRETHREN
Colossians 1:15 is speaking of Christ..."He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation." Vs 18 says, He is the firstborn from the dead. Psalms 89:27 "Also I will make him my firstborn, higher than the kings of the earth."
Those that are called to be the first fruits of mankind. (These are people, men and women who will be made firstborn God beings when Christ comes back. They will rule with Christ when He returns.) They are not subject to the second death. They will live forever. They are immortal, they are Gods. The Bible says that only God hath immortality. They are immortal now, and they are now Gods.
1. The return of Christ, He restores all things.
2. The converted ones who have God's spirit in them at His return, will be made into God beings and rule with Christ.
3. There will be a 1000 year long millennium in which they will be Kings and Priests and will rule a physical world with Christ.
4. At the end of the 1000 year millennium, there will be a final judgment of all mankind. It is called the Great White Throne Judgment, and all the rest of the dead will be resurrected as physical human beings, including the ones who did not qualify for the first resurrection. These people who failed the first time will be given one more chance to get it right. If they don't obey God and don't qualify during the Great White Throne judgment, then they will be reprobate. Re-Probate. Tried twice and lost twice, and these evil people (twice rejected by God) will be burned up when the earth burns up, they will experience the "second death."
They lived twice, they failed twice, they died twice and they will be burned up in the fervent heat that Peter mentions when the earth is burned up. They will never live again. But, most people will make it, they will obey God, they will do what is right and good.
For most, the Great White Throne judgment will be the first time they have been taught out of the Bible as to what God expects of them. They will be taught how to keep the commandments, and taught out of the books (Biblios) and at that time, the book of life will be opened for them, and most will receive eternal life, based on their obedience to God's principles during this lifetime. When they do receive eternal life, they will not be rulers, that is only given those who are converted and have God's Spirit, (which He gives to those who obey Him) and they alone will reign with Christ at His return.
5. At the end of the Great White Throne Judgment, the earth will burn up with fervent heat, and all physical things will be forever destroyed. And the righteous will walk over the ashes of the wicked.
THE RIGHTEOUS WILL WALK ON THE ASHES OF THE WICKED

MALACHI 4
1 For, behold, the day cometh, that shall burn as an oven; and all the proud, yes, and all that do wickedly, shall be stubble: and the day that comes shall burn them up, saith the LORD of hosts, that it will leave them neither root nor branch.
2 But unto you that fear my name will the Sun of righteousness arise with healing in his wings; and ye shall go forth, and grow up as calves of the stall.
3 And ye shall tread down the wicked; for they shall be ashes under the soles of your feet in the day that I shall do this, saith the LORD of hosts.
4 Remember ye the law of Moses my servant, which I commanded unto him in Horeb for all Israel, with the statutes and judgments.
As you can see, right after we see the wicked as ashes under the soles of your feet, in the very next verse, it reminds "Remember the law of Moses, with the statutes and judgments" It is a warning to keep God's law so you won't be burned up and be ashes under the feet of the righteous. Don't be like the Gnostics who falsely proclaim that the law is done away with. They are wrong, God's word is right.
THE RIGHTEOUS WILL LIVE INTO THE FUTURE AND FOREVER!
Isaiah 51:6-8
6 Lift up your eyes to the heavens, and look at the earth below; for the heavens will vanish like smoke, the earth will wear out like a garment, and its people will die like gnats. But My salvation will last forever, and My righteousness will never fail.
7 Listen to Me, you who know what is right, you people with My law in your hearts: Do not fear the scorn of men; do not be broken by their insults.
8 For the moth will devour them like a garment, and the worm will eat them like wool. But My righteousness will last forever, My salvation through all generations.…
Keep God's law, do not fear the scorn of men.......
