"Understandest thou what thou readest?" (Acts 8:30)
Have you ever read a scripture and came across a word that you've never heard of before in your life? And you think to yourself, "I wish I knew what that meant!" Generally, most of us never get around to digging out a concordance or Bible dictionary and looking up the mystery word... Yet, some of these words have really interesting and important meanings.
HARD TO UNDERSTAND Bible WORDS
* Concupiscence...
"evil desires"
This word means "longing for things that are
forbidden."
"Concupiscence was
used in the KJV in the broad sense of the strong inclination to do things
contrary to God. It is kind of like, "Everything I like is illegal, immoral or
fattening". That's human nature."
* Inordinate affection...
means LUST.
* Wicked... "Not
subject to the law."
2 Thessalonians 2:8 "And then shall that Wicked (not subject to the law)
be revealed, whom the Lord shall consume with the spirit of his mouth, and shall
destroy with the brightness of his coming:"
* Offend...
"Cause to sin." "And if thy right eye offend thee, (cause
you to sin) pluck it out, and cast it from thee: for it is profitable for thee
that one of thy members should perish, and not that thy whole body should be
cast into hell." Matthew 5:29
